Many of us have already written our representatives on behalf of Caption 2. Should we write again, or do it repeatedly? Does this help or harm the cause?
ReplyDeleteGood question. as long as you are not harassing your representative's office, we believe it helps. It shows them how much you want the bill supported. And, there are still many out there who still don't know about the bill. Please educate those in your community who do not know about the bill.
ReplyDeleteIt is not easy to get the attention of Congressional representatives' staff! Remember, our bill must compete for attention with other bills demanding attention too. It took Caption Action 2 a few phone calls, emails, and office visits before our OWN representative's office responded.
ReplyDeleteWhen Jamie visited Mark Bayer in Ed Markey's office, Jamie told Bayer how frustrated she was at the lack of response from her own Congressman. Bayer told Jamie to stop by her Congressman's office a second time. Jamie replied, "There's a fine line between asking and harassing." Bayer answered, "You don't seem like the type of person who would harass people." Jamie retorted, "That's what you think! I can be quite intense!" Bayer's reaction? "Good!!! You need to be intense for this!!"
